An insurance claim is notification to an insurance company that you want to exercise your insurance policy. For example:

• property covered by the policy has been damaged,
• a promised service is being requested, such as towing, glass repair, or health care services,
• an auto accident has occurred,
• an employee has been injured,
• a lawsuit has been filed against your business.

It is important to notify the insurance company as soon as possible of any incidents that might be covered by the policy. Prompt notification is a requirement on all insurance policies, allowing the insurer to assign an adjuster who will then review the request and guide you through the steps of resolving the claim.
